I was active and healthy for the first 13 years of my life. I played soccer and softball a couple of years. It kept me at a healthy weight and I loved every minute of it!
I quit playing sports when I was 14, and I put on lots of weight over the next 4 1/2 years. I didn't stay active all that much, and I spent a lot of time eating and not a lot of time trying to stay healthy.
I was scared of the scale for the longest time - didn't want to step on it because I was scared of what it was going to say. I stepped on it in the beginning of September 2012 before our Disney World trip and was shocked at the number I saw.
I was well over 200 lbs, and had been in complete denial thinking that I was maybe 200 lbs, not far over at all. I wasn't sure WHAT to think, but I knew that I had to get myself healthy again.
So, I started my journey. I started off doing walking and Zumba workouts. Now I've added elliptical trainer and treadmill to my working out, and have begun to enjoy running - something I never thought I'd be able to do.
I have dropped 80 lbs since September and I am trying to maintain at the weight that I am currently. I am what is considered 'healthy weight' for my 5'5" frame, and am really happy where I am, and how far I've come.
